Minecraft Tree

Thought I try and squeeze one last festive DIY project before Christmas day.  This is a simple project that anyone can do. You can make your tree as tall, short wide or skinny as you want. Just keep in mind if you want this tree to stand upright on its own the green blocks need to be balanced on all sides.  If not your tree will topple over.

This time I included  some steps to help you get started.

Winter Snow Bunny

It's that time of season!  Sweaters, warm fuzzy blankets and socks, warm stews, yummy
hot cocoa and of course coffee <----But that's everyday for me ☕

I wanted to create something that was a bit cute but not the typical red-and-green-in-your-face-its-Christmas kinda thing.  A holiday snow bunny seemed appropriate.  Stay warm and fuzzy and thanks for stopping by! X♥X♥

Thanksgiving

Just wanted to wish anyone out there who comes across this little blog a Happy Thanksgiving!
Here's to not just being thankful for today but also finding something to be thankful for the other 364 days of the year.

Cute things can come in small packages  (◠‿◠)

Plants vs Zombies series 1

What can I say about  Plants vs Zombies.  I remember when I first got my hands on this game 3 yrs ago.  I was intrigued as to how normal (and some not so normal) plants can take out a couple or even a horde of zombies.  In doing so I discovered how highly addicting this game was and I've been a fan ever since.   Now imagine how happy I was when I heard Plant vs Zombies 2: It's About Time was released, and yes that is the actual title because well lets face it.. its about time a part 2 was released.  I'm obsessed all over again. What's great about this game is it's great for all ages. The other day I heard my 9 yr old playing the game from the other room and I was inspired to revisit the characters from the 1st game.
Here are the first batch I recreated through polymer clay.  I'm hoping to make more of the other plants in the near future.

I may even attempt to make one of the zombies. If I'm feeling bold.
On with the pics...

Coraline meets Lalaloopsy

This post is definitely long over do...
The month of October was filled with making costumes and a lot of Fall cleaning (still going on by the way).   One of things I love about this season besides the weather and pumpkin flavored everything are the scary movies that air as a reminder that Halloween is not far behind. I had an idea I drew out a couple of weeks back and thought it was perfect for the theme of this month.  It was another Lalaloopsy mashup, kinda like the one I did in my previous Harley Quinn Mashup.  What if Coraline existed in the world of Lalaloopsy?   I know I couldn't have been the only one who thought of this idea (obviously the whole button eye kinda thing).  I was even more excited when I stumbled upon the movie Coraline as I was flipping through the channels. It was definitely a sign... or not. The timing couldn't have been more perfect so I put my fingers to work.

This time around I thought to include a little bit of the process that went into making Coraline.

Twilight Sparkle Practice Plushie

This week I finally finished a felt plush I have been working on all while working on other little things here and there.    I was so happy to finally be done with it because now I can finally move on to other projects and of course the feeling of accomplishing something to the end and feeling excited about the final outcome is well... exciting.
I decided to go with Twilight Sparkle from my little pony as a great practice plush. I saw a couple of tutorials online and went with 2 (one for the body and the other for the eyes) that helped me along the way while making small adjustments here and there.

The final result...

She is 100% Handmade and stands 14 inches tall 11 inches wide.
I didn't have a tutorial for the horn, hair and tail.  Her bangs was what I was having trouble executing.  I was so determined to have her look the way I pictured her in my head that I refused to give up on her until I got it just right.  Believe me there were times I had to stop, take a step back and think about how I was going to make it work.  Other times I took a needed break and moved on to other things in hoping when I came back to work on Twilight  I would have a clearer head on what to do next with her hair.

Marceline The Vampire Queen

Recently I was working on a couple of Adventure Time polymer clay figures.  One of them was Marceline but picky me wasn't too happy with the way she turned out.  This was my first attempt below.

For my second attempt I felt a little bold and decided to make a full blown 3D sculpture.  (What was I thinking?!) If ever there was a figure sculpture of some sort that I would like to have it would be of one of my favorite characters,  Marceline.

I gave it a shot and this was the result....

She may not be 100% perfect but I loved how she turned out.  I have her displayed right next to my keyboard.  For me, she is a reminder to always think outside the box and never be afraid to try new things.  You may not always get the results you want but that's ok. The important thing is to never give up and keep trying. If you give up you will never know what you are capable of.

More pics plus a Marceline figure that's more like the 1st one I made.

My Lalaloopsy Harley Quinn

A few years ago I purchased a Lalaloopsy doll for my oldest daughter. Her name was Peanut.

Peanut Big Top™ was made from bits of a brightly-colored clown costume. She is a silly prankster who's a little bit clumsy and loves to make her friends laugh. She has a pet elephant.
Sewn on Date: April 1st (April Fool's day)

My oldest daughter didn't care for dolls to begin with so when she expressed some interest in a Lalaloopsy doll I was a bit shocked.  With that being said, I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised with how quickly she was over Peanut.  I'm not a big fan of dolls myself but I have to say I do have a soft spot for these cute plastic rag like dolls.

I decided, after putting much thought into this idea I had brewing inside my head, Peanut needed a makeover.  Perhaps a bit more towards my geeky/nerdy side. I thought "Hmmm Harley Quinn would make a great Lalaloopsy doll given Peanuts history and all" and well, I came up with this....

Trying something new: Polymer Clay

It's been awhile since I posted anything but I've been working on a couple of sewing projects. One I finished and gave away as a gift and 2 that are unfinished because I started to play around with polymer clay.  I'm all over the place with projects I've given myself to do but I honestly do enjoy it (I wish I could just stick to ONE thing...pfff... who am I kidding!)
Ok so I'm a big newb to polymer clay so I've been practicing and watching a couple of video tutorials on youtube.  During and at the end of this post I will include links to some of the tutorials I watched that I found helpful and gave me tons of inspiration and motivation. :)

My first experiment was a Batman charm totally inspired by the wonderful, funny and very talented Pau Negrete Marín.
Be sure to check out Pau'sYoutube page where she has tons of tutorials.

You can find the tutorial for this particular charm here.

Space Bear - Honey Hug is Nigh

This post is based on another Battleblock Theater character.

Has anyone noticed the bear just randomly placed at the end of Battleblock Theater? I guess that's a silly question because he's not hard to miss.

He is so out of place it's quite humorous.

I don't know what the good people over at the Behemoth call this randomly placed bear but in our house he's been given the name Majestic Space Bear.

Extreme closeup

I wasn't too sure how to make his body since you only see half of it in the ending. I just went with what I thought he would look like and Ta-Daa! this is what I came up with.

Of course I forgot to take pictures of my progress. I was so caught up into sewing this little guy it completely slipped my mind. (Note to self: Take-More-Pics!)
