Thought I try and squeeze one last festive DIY project before Christmas day. This is a simple project that anyone can do. You can make your tree as tall, short wide or skinny as you want. Just keep in mind if you want this tree to stand upright on its own the green blocks need to be balanced on all sides. If not your tree will topple over.
This time I included some steps to help you get started.
Here's what you'll need:
Wood Blocks
Wood Glue
Acrylic paint-2-3 shades of green
2 shades of brown
black
*all these items can be found at your local craft stores*
To give the green blocks that leafy texture use a dotting tool. A toothpick works just fine too.
Other Tips:
-Again, I used 9/16" wood blocks. You can use bigger blocks depending on how big you want to make
your tree.
-If you decide to make a tall tree or a tree with lots of green leafy blocks, consider making the tree trunk
thicker. Try going up a size (maybe 2) for the trunk. I haven't tried this but I would definitely get 2 different
size blocks if I was making a bigger tree and wanted it to stand upright on its own.
-You can paint the blocks before or after you build your tree. It's really up to you and what you feel
more comfortable with.
