Practice - test subject 1 - Markiplier

The past 2 months I've been messing around in photoshop with my first (real) test subject, myself.  I did a self pic and just went all out and did whatever I wanted, not caring if I messed up my face too bad.  In other words I didn't have to worry about offending anyone if it didn't turn out so good. This time I tried drawing someone else and I gotta say it took me waaaaay longer to do this simple black and white picture.  5 days to be exact.  Why? cause I'm a noob and I used a mouse instead of a drawing tablet which my husband has.  Unfortunately he can't find the CD that contains all the drives to it so I can install it to my PC :/  I'm an impatient person so instead of waiting for the cd to magically show up I just jump right in and started to put in some work to this particular picture. Plus I gave myself a time limit because I have other projects that I have to start....like...tomorrow. Actually looking at the time, 1:18am as I type this, later today when I wake up.  o_o

I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try a not-so-traditional pose.
Ok I'll share a little secret with the world. If you can even call it that,  When I'm working on stuff like polymer clay, just drawing or in photoshop I like to 1. Listen to music 2. Watch/listen to Youtube game playthroughs.
The one I find myself always going to first is Markipliers channel.  I can't tell you how many times I've laughed and even cried of both from laughter and his touching words.  Without realizing, he's motivated me to do what I do now. There were times when I would get into such a funk that days,  sometimes weeks would go by and any motivation or creativity would just be non-existent.  Finding his channel and watching his vlogs couldn't have come into my life at a better time.  I am more grateful to him than he will ever know.  ♡

Ok enough of the sappy stuff :'), so about a month ago I was watching his play through of a game called "Knock, Knock".  When I came to episode 9 of the series around 10:28 into the video this face happens.

This was quite nerve-racking or is it nerve-wracking? I mean I know my face but someone else's face? Not to mention the expression on his face was so animated.  How am I going to capture that?..in photoshop with noobish photoshop skills.
Well, I'm always looking for a challenge (Insert foot in mouth)

Throughout the whole time I'm thinking it needs more contrast.  Than there was too much in certain areas. I originally wanted to add color to the background, then along the way I decided to do it all in black and white.  For 5 days I kept telling myself CONTRAST, CONTRAST, CONTRAST!   It still feels incomplete to me but as far as my caveman err cavewoman skillz go this is as good as its gonna get.  Maybe it needs more CONTRAST.  I'm choosing to step away from it.  Take a long break from it and hopefully once my skills improve I can go back and work on it some more.

Did I mention he does charity live streams?
Well he does. As a matter of fact he has one THIS Saturday 7/12/
for Best Friends Animal Society
If you want to help check out this video, follow him on twitter or facebook where I'm sure he'll be giving out further info on the event through out the week.

It's 3am and sleep calls for me.
Good Night/Good Day to all.

Ender Dragon

This month my oldest daughter celebrated her birthday.  For her special day she wanted an Ender Dragon to go on top of her cake.   Now for those of you who don't know what an Ender Dragon is it's basically well, a dragon, that happens to be the biggest mob boss you will face in a game called Minecraft.
The key word here being biggest.  Which means this was going out of my comfort zone as far as scale goes. Which is a good thing!  I mean how else am I going to learn if I don't push myself every now and then right? Right!
In the end my birthday girl was very happy! Mission accomplished •ᴗ•

Grey Cat Plushie

Earlier this month my eldest came up to me and asked me if I could make her a grey cat plushie for her friends birthday.  I said "sure, what did she have in mind?"  she wanted a grey kitty posing with a peace sign with sunglasses.  Now... I'm sorta new to this whole plushie thing.  I pretty much just draw out what I'm going to make first, then trace it with tracing paper and cut that out and use that as my template.  A kitty with a peace sign and sunglasses was something I've never attempted before.  I told my daughter "sure, I like a challenge." and then she throws in at the end "its for this Sunday"... which was a week from when she was telling me all of this.  O_o
Now usually when I make a plush I take my time and usually I make mistakes. Which is fine because  it's all part of the learning process but this time I had a time limit.  I puffed out my chest like superman and reassured my daughter that she would have a grey kitty with a peace sign AND sunglasses to give to her friend by the end of the week.
I had tons of luck when making this because I had no huge mess ups.  The worst thing that happened was my thread knotted up as I was sewing.
It's not a perfect but I had fun making the little grey kitty with a peace sign and sunglasses.  I met my first deadline and I gained more experience.  But the most important thing out of all this was my daughters friend loved it and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

The charm was added as part of the gift
The eyebrow on the right of the picture was a little off but I fixed it once I realized it and continued taking pics.

Just a quick post: Self portrait

It's been awhile since I've shared anything that I've done.  Too much procrastination on my end.  Thought I'd share something real quick before finally hitting the sack. I was determined to post something before the night was over.  Well.... the night is over and it's 5:26am.  I've been working on it all night along with changing a couple of things here and there.

Self Portrait
Done in Pencil and the rest was done in PS CS6
My bed calls and I must OBEY!  Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good evening and Good Night!  Just thought I'd cover it all depending on what time or part of the world you've come across this silly little post!

*In case you're wondering, yes, I used the same background for both picture and blog :) ....at least for now.

Creeper Plush

As the school year is coming close to the end, I wanted to make something for my eldest daughter to let her know how proud I was for all her accomplishments she has made.
She is a huge Minecraft fan and I thought this little Creeper would go well with her Enderman plush.
:)

Just Hanging out :)

Steven Universe

Steven Universe is animated television series created by Rebecca Sugar. Its is produced by Cartoon Network Studios and is the first show by the studio to be created by a woman.
:D
"In Steven Universe, the world is protected from evil threats by the Crystal Gems, a group of intergalactic female warriors who use the power of special gem stones embedded on their bodies to summon magical weapons. The four Gems are: Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Steven. Steven is a young boy who inherited a gem stone from his mother, a Crystal Gem named Rose Quartz. As Steven tries to figure out the secrets to using his gem, he spends his days in Beach City doing activities with the other Crystal Gems, whether it's helping them save the universe or just hanging out."

Just a quick Update

I just wanted to do a quick update on a couple of things I've been up to lately. There are a couple of things
I'm working on. Two of them will be done in a week or so. The other is more of a project I plan on working on over time.
Here's a preview of what I have so far.  I will definitely talk more about the origins of Pearl when I complete the other characters but if you watch the show you already know :)

Next I have this dollhouse that my lovely sister-n-laws mother was kind enough to pass onto me.

I've been working on making some miniatures out of polymer clay.  This is what I've done so far.

It was my first time but it wasn't too bad. Definitely need more practice. This is a project that I will work on from time to time and when I make any changes to it I will update my progress.
The inspiration for making the bread loafs came from a very talented
artist I came across on Youtube named SugarCharmShop

Check out her channel and see her other awesome creations.
That's all for now & thanks for stopping by!

The Ladies of Adventure Time series 3

Adventure Time is one of those series that have such a variety of characters I'm always stuck trying to decide which character I want to make.  So I thought from time to time I'll make some here and there and make sorta like a series of posts every now and then.  I'll probably do that in the future for any other post that involves multiple characters.

In a past post I made a couple of characters from the show. My favorite one has to be Marceline cause well she's my fav. :D This time around I went with Flame Princess, Lumpy Space Princess and Cake.

I thought I would include an extra pic of cake just because she looks better when I darkened the background a little bit.
Of course everyone else got their own individuals as well ;)

Lego Movie Inspiration

I had the pleasure of going out and spending the evening with my family last Friday.  We decided to go and catch a flick and we saw The Lego Movie.  I'm not sure who was more excited to see this me or my 9 yr old. We all loved the movie. It was funny, heart warming, sad, awesomely animated and its all about the legos... what's not to like.
I enjoyed the movie and characters so much I thought I would make my own.
I focused on 3 out of the 5 main characters.
Emmet, Wyldstyle and UniKitty

Left to Right: Wyldstyle, Emmet and Unikitty

The 3 pics below were my inspiration to create the next 3 that follow this one.

More pics and somewhat of a visual process on how I made Wyldstyle using Polymer Clay...
